Belize Police Officers Recognized by U.S. Marshals Service (May 10, 2005)
Chargé d’Affaires Lloyd Moss, Minister of State of Home Affairs Ismael Cal and Assistant Commissioner of Police Maureen Leslie today presented Certificates of Recognition from the U.S. Marshals Service to Belize Police officers for their efforts in capturing ‘Top Fifteen Fugitive’ Michael Webster on June 20, 2003. Webster was wanted for the sexual molestation of three young girls in Chicago, Illinois and for questioning in a murder investigation. Considered extremely violent and dangerous, he was captured in the Ladyville area following a joint investigation by the Belize Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service and the Chicago Police Department.
Officers receiving recognition were Corporal Denroy Barrow; Detective Corporal George Lightfoot; Detective Corporal Hendrick Wiliams; Sergeant Lincoln Hemsley; and Assistant Superintendent Chester Williams.
Chargé d’Affaires Lloyd Moss thanked the Belize Police Department for their assistance to U.S. law enforcement in many areas of mutual investigative interest. It was noted that the Belize Police Department has earned widespread recognition within the U.S. law enforcement community for its excellent investigative work. Moss also stated that close cooperation between Belize and U.S. law enforcement has resulted in the capture and return of several high profile fugitives to the United States to face justice.
