United States Peace Corps in Belize Program Manager

Position Summary:

Oversees project direction, develops work sites with Belizean work partners, trains and supports Volunteers, and collaborates with organizations, and community counterparts for success of development projects. For complete position description, send a request to vacancy@bz.peacecorps.gov.

Required Education/Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in international development, economic development, business or organizational management, or related field; and, three to five years of relevant experience in international development, economic development or business/organizational management and/or training. Experience with program design and management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable development approaches and knowledge of development work in Belize.
  • Ability to design, implement, manage, and evaluate development projects in low-resource environments that require significant cross-cultural skills and close collaboration with diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of program design and management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse Belizean stakeholders to establish collaborative relationships in the service of clear community development goals and objectives.
  • Ability to support and coach volunteers/employees in cross-cultural settings during times of adjustment and stress.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a licensed driver with the ability to operate a standard shift, 4-wheel drive motor vehicle throughout Belize.
  • Must have positive attitude and commit to a high standard of ethical and professional conduct.

Desired But Not Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of Peace Corps mission/goals; Language proficiency in either Spanish, K’ekchi, Garifuna, Creole, or Mopan.

Position Salary and Duration: 

One year contract with limited extension possibility. Salary commensurate with previous experience and qualifications.
