The Embassy of the United States of America is pleased that the U.S. Southern Command has onceagain partnered with the Belize Defence Force, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to provide free general medical care in several villages in the Orange Walk District.

This visit, staffed with 40 U.S. military doctors, nurses, and medical providers from the 459th Aero Space Medicine Squadron (AMDS), provided the basics of primary care, health education, tooth extractions, and preventative dental care in Orange Walk.

For the past 20 years, U.S. MLO Belize has coordinated Medical Readiness Training Exercises (MEDRETEs) throughout the country of Belize.

During this visit, the team was able to service 5,071 patients from March 28 to April 7, 2011.
