U.S. Embassy Chauffeur - Vacancy Announcement No. 2012-006
The United States Embassy Belmopan has an opening for a Chauffeur. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security clearance and undergo a medical examination.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operates assigned motor vehicle(s), including passenger vehicles and trucks, to transport embassy personnel, official visitors, cargo, documents, and service personnel, as directed.
• Performs messenger/courier duties such as delivery of official correspondence, payment of utility and other bills, and local purchases as required.
• Conducts daily school run as needed.
• Performs daily vehicle checks and maintains assigned vehicle(s) in a clean and serviceable condition.
• Maintains daily vehicle usage, fuel purchase and maintenance records.
• Performs casual labor or other tasks related to being a member of the General Services team.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Two years of chauffeur or other appropriate driving experience is required.
• Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
• Familiarity with local traffic laws and area traffic patterns is required.
• A valid Class A driver’s license is required. If not already issued, the selected applicant must be eligible to obtain a Class B2 driver’s license within 30 days of employment. Please attach a copy of your current driver’s license to your application form.
• The selected applicant must be able to pass a physical examination as a driver and must be able to maintain the medical certification for continued employment.
WHO MAY APPLY:
Applicant must be eligible for appointment under Belize’s local laws. Applicant must be resident in the country at the time the application is submitted, and be in possession of a Belize social security card valid for employment and/or a resident/work permit. To meet our Safety and Health Environment Management USG policy, applicants must be 25 years or older. Qualified applicants, who are permanent residents of Belmopan or the surrounding villages within a 5-8 mile radius, will be given preference in hiring. This preference will be applied to accommodate frequent after hours and weekend duties, and to facilitate any after hour emergencies.
